Shurooq Amin

Shurooq Amin is a Kuwaiti mixed-media artist and Anglophone poet whose purpose is to instigate positive change in society. In addition to a PhD in Ekphrasis, Amin also has an International Yacht Training License, a Pilates PMA license, two scuba diving licenses (Padi and Naui), a degree in Interior Decorating, and spends her time between the studio and her 4 children. Amin’s artwork has been consistently censored in her native Kuwait, and her work banned, on the false premises that it instigates “immorality” and threatens traditions and culture. Amin has since become a speaker on censorship in the arts and the repression of voice for women. In 2020, after the second censorship, Amin began to mint and list artworks that she created into NFTs, with the revelation that neither the authorities nor the people could censor NFTs, hence using NFTs as a utility for freedom of expression.
